Rice Greenhouses is a 35,000 square feet greenhouse operation owned and
operated by two brothers, Daryl Rice and Phil Rice. We grow bedding plants,
other Spring flowers, and Christmas Poinsettias for local sales, selling our crops to
garden centers, flower shops, churches, schools, and direct to the public as well.
We do not ship any plants outside our local area.

A new Impatiens disease has arrived in our area this past Summer. Downy Mildew kills the plants within 10 days of infection. There is no home gardener control available at this time. The disease does not affect New Guinea Impatiens or Sunpatiens or the Divine series of seed grown New Guinea Impatiens. It can infect regular garden impatiens, double rosebud impatiens, and African Impatiens. It may not infest every garden this year but it is spreading rapidly. | (5-7-13) We are now selling all Spring flowers. Hanging Baskets, perennials, and 4.5 pots are now in limited supply. Flats of annuals are selling now, and we have a good supply of most flats yet. |
Times to keep in mind:
The best selection of Perennials is usually from late March to late April.
The best selection of Hanging Baskets is usually mid to late April. As of May 7 we have an moderate selection yet.
The best selection of Geraniums and New Guinea Impatiens is middle to late April.
The best selection of Bedding Plants in flats is late April through the first week of May, although we usually have some selection until late May.
Remember that the Frost-Free Date for our area is @May 10-15, although on rare occasions it can occur later. Don't rush to plant too much before then as the ground will be too cold for optimum growth anyway.
Place your Christmas Poinsettia orders in September or October for best selection of sizes and colors.
